Intergenerational Model UN Conference
The opportunity to offer an Intergenerational Model UN Conference at The Fells is very exciting. The United Nations Association of Greater Boston will lead us in a three-hour simulation of a General Assembly Committee. Younger participants will be paired with an adult participant. Each pair will represent one nation in the General Assembly Committee and will negotiate with other nations, seeking to pass a resolution to their mutual benefit. The session is moderated by the UNAGB staff. The topic has yet to be determined but possibilities include accessibility to clean water, human migration, or asylum seekers. While these topics are not directly tied to the life and career of John Hay, they are critical topics that would seem to require diplomatic solutions in today’s world. Participants will hopefully be drawn from area middle and high schools: Kearsarge, Newport, Claremont, Proctor Academy and adults in the Fells community.
